Details of fiery K-150 crash sketchy

Staff writer

Details on a fiery wreck that occurred on K-150 southwest of Elmdale Thursday afternoon remain sketchy because the Chase County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating, the department said.

Shortly before 2 p.m., a passenger car rear-ended the trailer of a semi. The car, which burst into flames, was dragged nearly a mile before the driver of the semi pulled over.

The driver of the car escaped the vehicle before it burst into flames, then attempted to flee police.

When he was apprehended, he was taken by Chase County ambulance to Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Witnesses reported the car was driving recklessly before it ran into the semi.

The semi driver was not injured.

Neither driver’s name has been released.
