Derrel R. Dye, 76, died Sept. 6 as a result of a fall in Marion.

He was born April 22, 1940, to Leslie and Ora Mae (Knight) Dye in Red Oak, Oklahoma. He served in the Army and was a Vietnam War veteran.

On Nov. 16, 1973, he married Gabriele Rolf in Berlin, Germany. After spending time in California, they settled in Kansas.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dye.

He is survived by his wife, Gabriele of Marion; children, Felicitas Dye of Los Angeles, California, and Patrick Dye and Jameson Dye, both of Marion; sister, Dorothy Baker of California; and six grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday at Marion Cemetery.
