Dee Alvarez
Funeral services for Delora “Dee” Alvarez, 79, who died Saturday at Herington Municipal Hospital, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Pilsen.
She was owner and manager of Al’s Café in Lost Springs.
Dee was born July 15, 1940, at Ione, Nevada, the daughter of Henick and Lavell Smith.
She married Manuel Alvarez June 8, 1959, in Herington. He died in 1975.
She is survived by four daughters, Theresa Morrical of Brookville, Audrey Alvarez of Herington, Diana Smith of Greenwood, Louisiana, and Tammi Roth of Abilene; three brothers, Edward Smith, J. V. Smith, and Kenny Smith; three sisters, Amelia Marie Smith, Lily Smith, and Vernell Zararagoza; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Mary Ann and Vicki Makovec, and a son, Sam Alvarez, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington. Rosary will follow.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Abilene.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
