Judy Starkey is appointed to PCLC board.

The Peabody Warriors came away with their first victory of the season, defeating the Remington Broncos, 14-8.

This October appears to be the second driest on record according to one TV weatherman.

oct. 25, 1984

Funeral services were held Oct. 22 for John Henry Wolfersperger, Sr., who was found dead at his apartment in Peabody last week.

An early day picture of a Little Joker windmill once manufactured in Peabody appeared in the Oct. 18 issue of the “Wichita Eagle.” The old photograph, taken about 1900 on the John Welsh homestead, shows the barnyard, windmill, and a team of horses hitched to a canopy type carriage.

Ann Kane, a native of Paola, is a student teacher in the vocational agriculture department of Peabody High School, according to Gary Jones.

Rev. Giles Stagner showed pictures before and after of the tornado at Udall at the Kiwanis meeting Monday evening. The Stagners were serving the Udall Methodist Church at the time of the tornado in May 1955.

Don Good, Richard McClure, and Patricia Berns represented the Peabody High School in taking Summerfield scholarship examinations at Wichita East, Monday.

Mrs. Warren Windsor and Elaine Carolyn were dismissed from St. Luke Hospital on Oct. 24.

The Summit Telephone Company met at the home of William Jewell Friday night to transact business.

W.V. Church has opened an office over Holmberg’s shoe store.

Fred Sample of Braddock attended the club dance Monday evening.

oct. 23, 1884

A great improvement to our street facilities, the lamp put up by Mr. Brewer at his corner.

There will be an oyster supper at the Methodist church next Wednesday evening. All are cordially invited. This will be given by the ladies in the interest of the church building fund. Go and enjoy yourselves.

Mr. E.E. Gideon of Ruthend County, Vt., is here visiting Mr. C.F. Stone. He brought with him a fine lot of Merino sheep which are advertised in this paper.
