Sunday evening Ralph Ewert, Warren Slocombe, Laura Slocombe, and Ed Slocombe of Peabody and Bill and Elaine Sears of Abilene attended the Ewert reunion and picnic at Marion Reservoir.

Holiday visitors of Gary and Lou Ann Bowlin were Walt and Joyce Jones of Cordell. They stayed until Tuesday morning.

Janet Sims of Hutchinson was a weekend visitor of her mother, Gladys Jewell.

Sept. 6, 1984

Dr. Randy G. Davidson has arrived in Peabody and is serving the area through the Axtell Clinic, Peabody.

The Summit United Methodist Church, located between Peabody, Florence and Burns, will be celebrating their 100th anniversary of Sept. 23, members report. The celebration will observe the founding of the rural church in 1879.

Shana Maples spent the Labor Day weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Maples.

Three former Peabody High School stars are out for football at Baker University this season: Kent Covell, Kenneth Gutherie, and John Jacobs.

Mrs. Don Hulsey is a victim of the mumps.

Beaumont Petroleum set casing this week on the well, they drilled on the Burton lease east of Peabody in the old Peabody field.

The health officer last Friday said the Palisade is the cleanest hotel in the county.

G. W. Campbell has 320 hogs in one pasture that are daisies. There is where the money is — in stock. Not much in wheat.
