Peabody Main Street hosted another successful benefit auction Saturday night raising $9,000 to fund projects in the community during the coming year.
Muriel Wolfersperger, 79, died Feb. 24, 2003 at Newton.
Christopher Shaw of Peabody will perform in the senior composition recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethel College in North Newton.

On Friday, Feb. 12, 1988, Thomas R. Burkholder successfully completed the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Communication Studies at Kansas University.
Shana Kay Maples Smith of Peabody and Wichita was one of more than 700 students who completed their degree at Wichita State University at the end of the semester.
Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Ammeter of the Summit community will observe their 40th wedding anniversary Sat. afternoon, March 5, at the Burns Community Center.

Mr. and Mrs. Hartman Baker were in Kansas City Monday and Tuesday attending the Gift Show.
Gerald McMillan remains at Bethel Hospital in Newton and is slowly recovering. He hopes to be released soon. He is beginning his 8th week of hospitalization.
Dr. and Mrs. Douglas Heath of Burbank are parents of a son, born Sunday, Feb. 24. He has been named Bradley Douglas.

Miss Mildred Pettit entertained a number of her young lady friends yesterday afternoon.
A light snow turned to sleet before the Gazette went to press. Perhaps it is a Spring joke on the Groundhog.
The box supper announced by Miss Dora Liggett’s class for this evening has been postponed until after Easter.
