The Peabody Main Street Women’s Fair committee is looking forward to an exciting year of festivities.

Sorosis Beta members met at the home of Norma Patton and heard a program by Donna Windsor on vinegar remedies.

Rachel Wattson, daughter of Keith and Peggy Wattson of Peabody, has been named to the Kansas Wesleyan University Dean’s Honor Roll.

Jan. 23, 1988

Bradley and Steven Glover of Peabody were named among the 1082 Kansas State University students who learned scholastic honors for the fall semester.

Madge Mustoe of Peabody and Tony Dornbush of Newton were involved in an accident in front of Mustoe’s home Saturday noon.

Joe and Maxine Stockebrand and Jess and Helen Stucky enjoyed Sunday dinner with Mildred Windsor at her home.

JAN. 17, 1963

Rev. K. de Freese has tendered his resignation as minister of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Peabody, effective Feb. 1.

Today is the day for citizens of the Peabody area to get their Type II Sabin oral polio vaccine cubes. The clinic will again be held in the basement of the BPW room.

Helping Alan Johnson celebrate his 6th birthday at home Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson, brother and sister, Frederick and Carolyn, and his grandmother Mrs. Ernest Bundy of Stockton, California.

Jan. 15, 1913

Charles Marsh had sued Wells Fargo Express Company for the reward for the apprehension of a murderer while serving as a deputy sheriff of Marion County. The Supreme Court of Kansas ruled in favor for a reward of $1000.

It surprised a lot of fellows to run across a game warden while spearing fish last Sunday afternoon between Florence and Peabody.

Miss Jennie Arnold, who was returned from Kansas City to her home in Wichita stopped here Saturday and Sunday to visit her brother, M. H. Arnold and wife and her many friends.

Jan. 18, 1888

Dr. Disney has been sick this weekend and unable to attend to his dental practice.

The incandescent lights can now be seen every evening in the Brewer’s store and the Gazette office.

The concert given last evening at the Presbyterian Church for the benefit of the YMCA was well attended.
