Peabody native Ron Slaymaker will be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Saturday at breakfast on the Emporia State University campus.

Harold Ashley Rood, retired Peabody businessman, died Friday, Oct. 2, at age 87.

Final approval of $125,000 in Hill Burton matching funds for the construction of the Peabody Convalescent Hospital was made this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Mellott are parents of a son, born Sept. 20 at Bethel Hospital in Newton. He weighed 7 lbs. 7 ½ oz. and has been named David Gene.
John Jacobs, former Peabody High School football team star, now the mainstay of the Baker University offense, rushed for 213 yards and scored three touchdowns Friday night as Baker defeated Sterling College.

The expenses of the Whitewater team, amounting to $16.25, was all it cost for 2000 people to see the opening game of the football season and the result was 62-0 in favor of Peabody.
