Gaston Glenn, son of Claudette Glenn of Valley Center and the grandson of James and Carmen South of Peabody, took high honors in the elite Central Zone swimming championship held Aug. 9 through 11 in Wichita.
The Harvey County West Lake is the setting for the wedding of Stephanie Meilleur and Robert Oursler.
Services are pending for Willard Hague, Marion, who died Tuesday.

Bettie Seibel helped work a quilt day at Dodge City Saturday as a part of the Kansas Quilt Project and the first for the western part of the state.
Orlin “Red” Fleming is winding up his 38 years with the natural gas industry will retire Aug. 31. He will be replaced by Randy Dallke.
The first annual late summer dance party sponsored by the Peabody Chamber of Commerce last Saturday night was a success. Music was provided by Don Lemley, DJ.

Chuck Ward of Burlingame, California, accompanied by a friend, Ian Barry-Smith, left for their homes Monday afternoon after spending a few days visiting Chuck’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Ward and friends here.
John Jacobs was best man at the wedding of Miss Charlaine Henry and Hon. M. Milliken at Kansas City Saturday evening.
Fred “Bud” Cullins has received an appointment as the game protector with the State Fish and Game Department. Cullins has been assigned to Crawford and Neosho counties. The Cullins family moved their furniture to Girard, where they will make their home, on Tuesday of this week.

Mrs. Will Snyder has been quite ill for several days with fever, but is better at present.
