Joan Berns spent the weekend in Cimarron where she attended the wedding of her grandson, Scott Ridenour, and Vickie Taylor.

The 98th birthday of Mildred Nicklaus will be March 22 and friends and relatives are asked to join in the observance by sending greetings to her.

Members of the Doyle Valley Farmers Market met for their February meeting in Hesston at the home of Frank and Joleen Berns. The program for the evening featured Fohn Ruebke, a Hesston grower of produce and flowers.

Lucille Carlson, the premier middle distance ace for the Peabody High School girls’ track team a few years ago, is still burning up the cinders. Lucille won the 1,000-yard race in the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship at Warrensburg.

Rod Conquest and George Holm took first place at the second annual Moundridge Lunker Bullhead Tournament March 7, catching more than 45 fish weighing a total of 20 lbs. and 2 oz.

Joe M. Gaines, 84, died Monday, March 9.

March 15, 1962

The regional championship trophy is accepted in the photo by Peabody High School seniors Korb Johnston, junior Paul and Bill Pereboom Friday night at Chase Co.

Mr. and Mrs. John Bloomer of Peabody are parents of a girl, Faunetta De Ann. She was born Monday, March 12, at Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton.

Paul Jewell, Rex Graham, Everett Wade, and Oliver Kornhaus attended Masonic Grand Lodge at Topeka Wednesday.

Miss Lena House returned on Friday from a few weeks visit in Atchison with her aunt, Mrs. E.C. White.
