Peabody High School band was awarded “I” ratings all across the board at the Kansas State Music Contest in Salina Saturday. Judges were highly complementary of the performance of the band and director, Bob Marshall.
Former Marion County commissioner Elmer “Bus” Uphoff died early Tuesday morning, April 18, at Halstead Hospital after a short illness. He was 73 years of age.
The eight-year tenure as pastor of Peabody’s United Methodist Church will soon come to an end for Rev. Tom Sims and his wife, Barbara. They will be leaving May 31 and are assigned to the Methodist Church of Hoisington.

Judy Seibel received two “I” ratings at the Kansas State High School Speech and Drama Festival in Manhattan last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schelske returned Thursday from a five-week trip visiting friends and relatives in Idaho and California.
Harold Johnson, Jr. has been hired to manage the Peabody pool this summer.

Since moving to their new location at the corner of Second and Walnut streets, the well-known physicians, Messrs. Johnson and Myer, have secured a valuable addition to their office equipment in the way of an X-ray machine of large capacity, second only to the largest, of which there are only half a dozen in the state.
Charles Marsh has cleaned the streets and alleys as never before — 12 loads of trash were dug out and hauled from one block against only one load last year, showing the need for more thorough work.
Mr. and Mrs. F.H. Prescott left on Tuesday for a visit of several days with his mother Mrs. Prescott, and the family of his sister, Mrs. J.H. Morse in Minneapolis, Minn.

Philip Walker, the agricultural agent of the Department of Agriculture, was in our city Monday looking after the interests of the silk industry.
