Brian Penner, a 1995 graduate of Peabody High School, recently was promoted to assistant store manager of Dillon’s in Augusta. He is the son of Leroy and Florence Penner of rural Peabody.

The Peabody-Burns High School Warrior Band traveled to Lindsborg this past weekend to participate in the Svensk Hyllningsfest parade.

Michael Unruh and Marie Unruh, two Peabody-Burns High School students, have been nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.

The Eberley auction sale this past weekend has been rated a success by those involved in the day’s procedure. Many of the items, particularly antiques, sold at high figures.

Jim Honn, a native of Peabody, is the new chef and restaurant manager at the Newton Elks Club.

Kerby Mellott, standout tackle for the Peabody Warriors, was picked as one of the seven “linemen of the week” in high school football by the Wichita Eagle.

Nancy Aurell was a winner again this week in the McPherson Sentinel’s weekly football contest.

Mrs. Marjorie Windsor of Peabody joined the staff of the County Health Department last week as a county health nurse.

The young folks’ reception committee, consisting of Miss Mina Fitch, Mrs. Earl Brown, Wesley Nusbaum, and Alfred R. Kent, are cooperation with the pastor of the Methodist Church, Rev. M.C. Brooks, to especially honor the elderly of the congregation at a special service next Sunday morning.

Orlando Jolliffe has received word that his brother-in-law, Rev. J.S. Lean, was severely injured last week at Waukesha, Wis., by an auto which ran over him as he crossed the street.

Joel Good went this week to Bethel Hospital in Newton for treatment. His brother, I.B. Good, accompanied him.

The Peabody Flouring Mill has been running day and night to supply the increased demand.

C.W. Bragunier has opened a general store in the building just north of Prescott and Company.

The Ladies of the Methodist Church will give an oyster supper on the evening of Nov. 6.
