The farmers are trying to get their wheat harvested. Randy Eitzen brought the first load into Peabody Farmers Cooperative Friday.

Randy and Betty Robinson will celebrate their 50th anniversary with an open house 2 to 4:30 p.m. June 24 at the Junior League house at 6402 E. 12th St., Wichita.

Edna Schill attended Ed and Geraldine Sorter’s 60th anniversary Saturday evening at Botanical Gardens, Wichita.

June 13, 1985

Sue Anderson has been offered a contract to be elementary principal at Peabody and Burns next year, according to the office of Superintendent John Glover.

Lynn Jones, secretary at Peabody High School, has recently been elected president of the Central Secretaries at their recent meeting in Lost Springs.

Michelle Madsen, a junior at Tabor College in Hillsboro, has earned a place on the honor roll for the spring semester.

June 23, 1960

Two well-dressed polite bandits robbed the Walton State Bank at the point of a sawed off shotgun Wednesday noon. They got about $5,000 in the robbery and apparently made good their escape.

Dick Carr of Peabody was one of 35 freshmen in the college of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Wichita University to be named on the dean’s honor roll for the spring semester at the University.

Monte Fisher who was here recently on furlough is an Airman First Class, rather than Second Class as reported.

Milton Dohner was home from Whitewater over Sunday.

Will Morgan went to Wichita today to attend business college for a few weeks.

The Lutheran Sunday school plans to picnic at the country club, June 23, if the weather doesn’t skidoo.

1885

Peabody baseball club at Newton, Saturday, got beaten by the score of 33-5. The Newton club will be here next week to play again.

The Presbyterian Sunday school, together with their “friends and enemies”, had a pleasant picnic yesterday in Campbell and Huffman’s grove.
