Peabody Elementary students had the unique opportunity to learn about the past century. Mildred Buller shared her experiences as a teacher in a one-room school. It was called Ridge School.

Music students at Burns Elementary and Peabody Elementary had their very first Artist in Residence Day.

Senior Airman Gary M. Hedrick, son of Charles M. and Irene Hedrick of Peabody has re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after being selected for career status.

Dan Kyle of Peabody recently performed in a student recital at Emporia State University as part of a tuba quintet.

Mrs. Hartman Baker, who with Mrs. John DeForest, is on a National Republican Women’s tour and convention in Washington, D.C., and the East had a surprise meeting in the White House last week. As Mrs. Baker walked down a hall she was surprised to see Lubert deFreese of Peabody, son of Dr. K. deFreese of Peabody. She hurried up to him and spoke to him and discovered the lady at his side was Mrs. Eisenhower.

The Women’s Relief Corps will meet at 2 p.m. Friday.

Peabody is to have another good show — an elaborate scenic production of Augusta J. Evans’, “El Elmo,” dramatized by Neil Twomey. There are few plays that have been such a favorite. At the opera house Wednesday night next week.

Ivy Morgan of Artesia, N.M., is spending a few weeks visiting the family of her brother, the editor, and numerous other Peabody friends. This is her first visit here since moving to Pecos Valley.

Our farmers report the wheat badly injured in the neighborhood. Some think the fly killed it and others say it is winter killed. Many are plowing up entire fields, while others plow portions.

Dr. Loose has broken ground and commenced the erection of a new stone building on his business lot, second north of Hutchings and Schroeder, and the owner of the lot between is now making arrangements to build. These with the three next north will make a solid block of five business houses building together. The “green tea party” held last Friday evening at the GAR Hall was a decided success.
