Sheila Buller was on the dean’s list at Friends University last semester.

Friends and classmates of the classes of 1958, 1959, and 1960 gathered July 2 at the homes of Alan and Judy (Whisler) Mellott for an evening of reminiscing and laughter.

Burns senior citizens will meet at 8:15 a.m. July 13 at the community building. They will car pool to Matfield Green for a wildflower tour on the Flint Hills prairie.

Services will be held today for Emma Rempel who died Monday at the age of 91.

The Sorosis Beta Club met May 24 at Olive Street Inn for dinner and their final meeting for the club year. Three guests and 21 members attended.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Bailey and Kraig of Emporia were dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Fern Flint at the Barn Stormer in Goessel.

The Rev. Giles Stagner has been assigned to Peabody Methodist Church by the Central Kansas Conference. He and Mrs. Stagner have five children.

A well was brought in on the Lowell Cooper place, three miles east and two south of Peabody. Pay was found at 2,510 feet.

Craig Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carr, is in Children’s Orthopedic Hospital with acute rheumatic fever. He is the grandson of Minnie Carr.

Peabody ought to have its streets labeled at every corner, either on a post or on houses at opposite corners of each intersection. It would be a little thing to do, would not cost much, and would very much assist public convenience. And, to have a town progressive enough to insist on this, would make property worth more.

It soon will be time when others than the GAR will have to look out for the observance of Memorial Day. There are nearly as many soldiers’ graves decorated annually at Prairie Lawn Cemetery as veterans living here.

T.M. Potter has purchased a piano for his children.

Willis Westbrook has purchased a splendid mare, 3 years old, sired by the famous Joe Young. She is a beauty.
