Joleen Kay Rempel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rempel of Peabody, earned a Bachelor of Science in home economics from Kansas State University during the recent summer session.

Janelle Arnett was the player of the week for the volleyball team.

A new family in the Peabody community is Gary and LuAnn Bowlin and their daughter, Emily, from Colorado; they live southeast of Peabody, neighbors of Irvin and Pauline McPheeters.

1960

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Ridenour of Grain Valley, Mo., formerly of Peabody, are parents of a daughter, born Aug. 26. She has been named Beth Ann and tipped the scales at 10 pounds, 14 ounces.

Karen Bernice Pereboom, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I.E. Pereboom is a freshman in the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Palmer and daughters Anita Mae, Leah, and Debby; Mrs. Gerald Jesseph; Mrs. Larry Vantuyl; and Milton Palmer of Overland Park enjoyed a picnic dinner Monday at the Florence City Springs.

R.H. Craw is raising very fine white peaches this year — Crawford variety. People gladly paid $1.50 for them. There is a good yield of grapes this year, too.

Hedge wood wanted — 3 feet long — at Cockley’s Bakery.

Two apprentice girls wanted, to learn the millinery trade. Apply to Mrs. L.C. Huffman.

1885

All who want grapes for jelly, inquire of D.D. Perry.

The WCTU will meet tomorrow at three o’clock in the Lutheran church. Every member should be present.

Rev. Florence Kollock of Engelwood, Ill., arrived last evening for a few weeks’ visit with her brother, F.H. Kollock.
