Daniel Levering

Daniel Ray Levering, 72, Burlington, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the Coffey County Hospital. Dan was born on March 28, 1941, in Burlington to Donald and Juanita Gooch Levering.

Dan grew up in the Burlington area. He attended the rural schools of Pleasant View and Oak Grove. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1959.

He married Mary Louise McMullen on June 27, 1961, in Gridley, Kan.

Dan worked as a farmer and a pipefitter. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Neosho Valley Grange No. 1883, the Aerie No. 3577 Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion Post No. 38, all in Burlington.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Levering.

Dan is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; his two sons, William Levering, Marion, Kan., and Christopher Levering, Honolulu, Hawaii; two daughters, Dina Vogel and her husband, Greg, Marion, and Gayle Wolfe and her husband, Brian, Newton, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Jessica Fine and her husband, Zan, Jonathon and Jeremy Vogel, Kyle and Krystal Levering, and Shelby and Kelsey Wolfe; a brother, Dennis Levering and his wife, Connie, Salina, Kan.; a sister, Judy Napier and her husband, Hubert, El Dorado, Kan.; his Aunt Raye Levering, Fort Smith, Ark.; 15 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Services were Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the United Methodist Church, Burlington. The family received friends Thursday at the funeral home. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery.
