Cross-country team runs at Hesston Swather Special

Warrior cross-country team placed fifth at Hesston on Thursday with runners competing in three divisions. The Lady Warriors also had competitors in three divisions.

The teams will run in Peabody next with the competition taking place on the home course.

Aaron Topham led the senior division with a second-place finish. He ran the 5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 23seconds, a personal best time. Jacob Simmonds was 10th with a time of 18:42, an improvement of more than a minute. Josh Klarmann crossed the finish line at 13th with a time of 18:58, and Steffen Pospiech was 46th with a time of 22:55.

Sheldon Wiebe ran in the junior division and finished 10th with a time of 19:14.

Two freshmen also competed. Seth Topham was 18th with a time of 22:34 and Zach Preheim was 19th at 22:36.

Beatrice Coldorella ran in the senior girls division and finished 20th with a time of 20:42.

Lauren Pickens competed in the junior division and finished 11th with a time of 18:12. Heather Brooks came in 36th in that division with a time of 25:42, improving her time by almost a minute over last season.

Amanda Pickens ran in the sophomore division and finished 27th with a time of 22:38.
