Tony Joe Barr, 220 W. 1st, Newton; defendant waived his right to counsel on Jan. 18 and pleaded no contest to one count of giving a worthless check. In return, the prosecution dropped a second count. The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to a 30-day controlling sentence in jail plus 12 months of probation. The defendant must pay $118.12 restitution to Ampride of Hillsboro, $138 court costs, a $22 surcharge, and a $45 booking fee.
