COVID-19 hits lull, but new spike possible
Staff writer
New COVID-19 cases in Marion County dropped in the past week, with 23 new cases reported.
The drop mirrors a trend from a year ago, when a post-Halloween spike relented to lower numbers only to shoot back up after Thanksgiving.
As of Tuesday, the county health department reported 52 active cases, down from 83 Thursday.
The number of deaths in the county was corrected Tuesday to 34. A decrease in reported deaths can happen when the county of residence is corrected or new information is reported, the health department said. Marion Elementary School is listed on the state’s active cluster list with 12 cases in the last 14 days, the last onset date Nov. 10.
