Couple celebrates Alpine wedding

Family members and friends gathered April 29 for a post-wedding celebration for a newly married couple with grandparents from Marion County.

The “Happily Ever After Party” for Adam Michael Greenhaw, formerly of Independence, and his new bride, the former Jordan Paige Taylor of Olathe, was at Cider Gallery, a fine art gallery in the warehouse arts district of Lawrence.

The bride’s parents are Denise and Chris Hammond of Olathe and Bruce and Patty Taylor of Lenexa. The groom’s parents are Dennis and Pat Greenhaw, longtime Independence residents now residing in Lawrence.

The bride is a granddaughter of Glenda Taylor of Marion and the late Jack Taylor. She also is a granddaughter of the late Helen Black and Gloyd Burk, both formerly of Wichita.

The groom is a grandson of the late Don and Pauline Greenhaw, longtime residents of Hillsboro, and the late Edmund and Regina Kobuszewski, longtime residents of Hanover.

The couple exchanged marriage vows Oct. 1 in the Tyrol region of the Austrian Alps, above the mountain village of Reith in Alpbachtal. The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s uncle, Steve Greenhaw of Bellingham, Washington.

Dani Calamari of New York City was matron of honor for her sister. Serving as best man for his brother was Andrew Greenhaw of Denver, formerly of Independence.

After the mountainside ceremony was a cake and champagne reception at Postalm, a traditional Austrian bistro in the village of Alpbach. It was followed that evening by a formal dinner at Schloss Matzen, an early 12th century castle in the Tyrol.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents were hosts for a dinner party at Gasthoff Jakober in Alpbach. It featured authentic Austrian and Tyrolean dishes and desserts.

Thirty-three family members and friends attended the ceremony and celebrations in Austria.

The new Mrs. Greenhaw grew up in central Kansas and graduated from Olathe Northwest High School in 2011. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2015 with academic honors from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2019 from Mid America Nazarene University, Olathe.

She is an emergency room nurse at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado.

The groom graduated from Independence High School in 2008 and attended the University of Kansas, where he received a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical studies in 2013. After completing a doctor of pharmacy degree with academic honors from KU in 2014, he completed two year-long hospital residencies, including an advanced clinical residency in emergency medicine at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina.

This past December, he completed a master’s degree in clinical toxicology from the University of Florida at Gainesville.

He is an emergency medicine clinical pharmacist at Swedish Medical Center. The Greenhaws reside in Aurora, Colorado.
