County sees a run of methamphetamine busts

Law enforcement makes six arrests in four days for three unrelated incidents

A run of six arrests involving methamphetamine that took place between Thursday and Sunday in Marion County extend beyond their respective towns, Hillsboro police chief Dan Kinning said.

“We need to work together because the drugs are going back and forth between the different communities in Marion County,” he said.

Friday’s arrests in Hillsboro were the result of traffic stops where searches turned up drugs in each vehicle, Kinning said.

Jerry H. Shulka, 57, Peabody, was arrested on suspicion of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at 3:41 p.m. Feb. 28 in Hillsboro’s 400 block of S. Main St.

Lonney R. Teichmann, 60, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine at 9:50 p.m. Friday at Washington St. and Grand Ave. after methamphetamine was found in the vehicle he was riding in. There was also a warrant for his arrest from an incident earlier in the week in Marion.

Shulka was not the only Peabody resident arrested last week involving methamphetamine.

Erik E. Lunsford, 44, Peabody, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of N. Locust St.

The reason for his arrest also included suspicion of aggravated domestic battery and criminal damage to property for a pair of broken glasses.

Hillsboro police Sunday night were searching an apartment while investigating a case of a stolen revolver and checkbook.

Police ended up finding methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in addition to what they were looking for, Kinning said.

“Normally when we go into a house that’s what we’re looking for,” he said. “This time we weren’t looking for it. We were looking for other things, but we found that.”

The drugs were not being produced at the residence, Kinning said.

“It’s not like it’s being manufactured, we got no indication of that,” he said.

Samantha A. Adkins, 29, Christina R. Greany, 38, and Conan L. Glickman, 49, all of Hillsboro, were arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia at 3 p.m. March 1 in the 900 block of E. D St.

While there’s no guarantee, law enforcement sometimes gets information that helps them investigate further, Kinning said.

“We don’t always know at first, but we sometimes get information out of people and use that,” he said.
