NEW ARRESTS

Christopher R. Brewer, 34, Marion, arrested Monday by a sheriff’s deputy for being in contempt of court. Released less than an hour later on $800 cash bond.

Tyler A. Craft, 27, Marion, arrested Thursday by a sheriff’s deputy on suspicion of domestic battery. Released less than two hours later on $2,500 surety bond. Pleaded guilty Jan. 5 in Cowley County and was placed on probation for six months for a previous charge of domestic battery. Previous Cowley County charges of making a criminal threat and criminal damage to property were dismissed in a plea bargain.

Alan C. Hatton, 52, Peabody, jailed March 30 for 30 days on court orders.

Russell W. Johnson, 58, Canton, arrested Saturday by Marion police for allegedly violating probation and on suspicion of driving while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked. Released Monday on $3,500 in surety bonds. Probation was from a Dec. 6 conviction in which charges of possessing drugs and marijuana were dismissed in exchange for probation on a charge of using drug paraphernalia. According to court documents, tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, and marijuana use March 11 and failed to obtain a required drug evaluation or pay costs and fees as ordered.

Marques D. Morris, 36, Wichita, arrested Sunday by a sheriff’s deputy on suspicion of attempting to distribute heroin, distributing marijuana, using a communication facility in the commission of a crime, and operating a vehicle without a valid license. Held in lieu of $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

Rickey D. Smith, 58, Dunlap, arrested Saturday by a sheriff’s deputy on suspicion of operating a vehicle without a license or proof of liability insurance and displaying an improper license plate. Released the next day on $1,500 surety bond.

Melissa A. Tajchman, 29, Marion, arrested Thursday by a sheriff’s deputy for allegedly violating probation. Released Monday on $20,000 personal recognizance bond. Previously jailed Aug. 16 and 17 and Nov. 4 and 19, 2020, for seven times failing to appear in court. Court records indicate three pending cases in Marion County: for allegedly possessing drugs, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia on April 27 and Dec. 13, 2020, and for alleged theft and forgery March 12, 2020, in addition to traffic offenses.

Christopher M. Thomas, 23, Junction City, arrested March 30 by a sheriff’s deputy on suspicion of possessing and distributing drugs and drug paraphernalia and having no drug tax stamp. Released the next day on $30,000 surety bond.
