Council OKs dumpster rental

Staff writer

The city of Peabody will rent two 30-yard dumpsters for flood debris cleanup beginning Thursday.

Peabody City Council decided at Monday’s meeting both dumpsters should be placed in the southern part of the city where flooding was the worst.

They will be available would for two weeks.

Even if they are meant for flood debris, people will use the dumpsters for other reasons, councilman Travis Wilson said.

“We’re doing this for the right reasons, but people will use it for the wrong ones, too,” he said. “You try to help some people out and others will take advantage.”

Accountant Amy Elliott of Knudsen, Monroe and Co. made her audit report for the 2018 financial year, and said the city’s bonded interest fund was over budget by $19,000, but was the only account over.
