No reason given for decision

Two weeks ago Peabody city council voted to pay $4,960 to Morgan Marler, a volunteer with Peabody Main Street Association, but at Monday’s meeting, voted to rescind the check.
After discussing the matter in executive session, council members voted to take back the check but would give no reason why the discussion was held behind closed doors.
City clerk Jylle Wilson said she did not have the authority to talk about what happened in executive session.
Mayor Tom Spencer said, “he couldn’t speak about it” and “had no comment.”
At the Feb. 11 council meeting, members viewed a printout of Marler’s volunteer work for the association, then voted to pay her for 248 hours at $20 an hour.
In other business Monday:
- Norma Patton and Rodger Charles gave an update on library remodeling. They requested funds to complete the projects. Board members will study the budget and have an answer at the March 11 meeting.
- Craig Dodd presented information on economic development possibilities.
