Evening meals planned
Peabody Senior Center correspondent
Two extra meals will be served in the coming days to make up for the days the center was closed recently because of heavy snow accumulation.
The meals will be served from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 23. Participants may enjoy the nutritious come-and-go meals by reserving a place by 9 a.m. on the day the meal is served. The menu for Thursday is ham salad sandwich, carrot salad, fruit, and cookie. On Feb. 23, the center will serve tater tot casserole, fruit, and bread.
To make reservations for either meal, call (620) 983-2226.
Thursday the center is hoping to have volunteers come in at 12:30 p.m. to help get United States Department of Agriculture commodities ready for distribution. The food items will be distributed from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Friday.
Nancy Phil, Marion County Extension agent, will share information about nutrition after the meal on Tuesday.
For more information about meals or activities, contact the center at (620) 983-2226 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays. Meals can be reserved by leaving a message at the same number the night before attending the center to eat.
