Upcoming activities on the calendar

Peabody Senior Center correspondent

February birthdays will be celebrated Thursday during the noon meal at Peabody Senior Center. A lively program of poetry reading and dog tricks will follow the meal. Nancy Lewis and her pet will provide the entertainment.

Seniors are encouraged to bring their Valentine to the center for lunch on Monday. Local board members will meet after the meal.

A covered dish luncheon is scheduled for noon Tuesday in the Legacy Park dining room. Participants should bring a side dish or dessert, park in the parking lot on the north side of the building, and use the north entrance. The west downstairs entrance could also be used.

Peabody Senior Center is scheduling makeup meals for those days the center closed because of severe winter weather. The next makeup meal is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The event will be a come-and-go gathering. Call the center at (620) 983-2226 by 9 a.m. Tuesday to make a reservation.

Anyone 60 years of age or older can eat a hot meal for $2.75. For those younger than 60, the cost is $4.50. Mid-day meal reservations should be made by calling the center the evening before.

Meal delivery and frozen meals also are available. For more information, call the center between 9 a.m. and noon any weekday.

For more information or to make an advance meal reservation call the center.
