CORRESPONDENTS: Peabody Senior Center

Peabody seniors have opted to have a Fourth of July picnic in the air-conditioned comfort of the senior center.

“Most people have their holiday picnic outside, but we have decided to do ours in where it is cool,” senior center site manager Ruth Lott said.

The picnic also will be a day early because the center will be closed on July 4.

The meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, baked beans, and dessert will be served at the regular mealtime on July 3.

To reserve a spot for the meal, call (620) 983-2226. An answering machine will take the message if no one is at the center.

The center welcomes volunteers, interesting programs, and additional seniors who want to enjoy a nutritious meal in a friendly atmosphere.

The charge for lunch is a suggested donation of $2.75 for anyone 60 or older and $4.50 for all others.
