Site manager, Peabody Senior Center

The upcoming week will be busier than usual at Peabody Senior Center. The monthly business meeting was to be held today, with a presentation by Ted Hayes of the Kansas Sports Museum.

The senior center encourages people to fly their American flags Thursday in honor of Flag Day. Bingo will follow the meal on Thursday. Participants should bring a white elephant gift for the prize basket.

Friday is the Marion County board meeting and anyone interested in attending should contact Judy Mellott or Nellie Schmidt to make arrangements for the trip.

The center will host a special brunch fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. The menu will include biscuits and sausage gravy, cinnamon rolls, fruit, and coffee. Cost of the meal is by donation. The center has recently experienced some major plumbing problems so they are hoping for a good turnout to help with that expense.

Also on the calendar for the center is “Summer Hat Day” on Monday. Patrons are encouraged to wear a favorite summer hat, regardless of whether it is stylish or silly.

The senior center will have “Show and Tell Day” on June 21.

To reserve a spot for a meal, call (620) 983-2226 to make a reservation. An answering machine will take the message if no one is at the center. The charge for lunch is a suggested donation of $2.75 for anyone 60 or older and $4.50 for all others.
