CORRESPONDENTS: Peabody Senior Center

Peabody Senior Center would like the public to remember it will host weekly Lenten services every Wednesday immediately following lunch. A minister from a community or area church will conduct the services. On April 4, Pastor Robert Kloth of St. Paul Lutheran Church will speak.

The center will host a Wii bowling tournament on Thursday and everyone is invited to stay after lunch and participate. No special talent or skill level is needed, just the desire to spend time with friends, get some exercise, and get out of your chair in front of the television.

April menus are available at the center. Anyone may stop by and pick one up.

“We encourage people to pick one up and maybe decide to come down and eat with us one day,” site manager Ruth Lott said. “Just be sure to call the ahead and make a reservation. Leave a message on the answering machine if no one is at the center.”

The charge for lunch is a suggested donation of $2.75 for anyone 60 or older and $4.50 for all others.

The center also needs volunteers and would be happy to visit with anyone who could donate a couple of hours a week or month.

The phone number to make a reservation or to volunteer to help is (620) 983-2226.
