Peabody State Bank employees enjoyed their annual Christmas goodie day Monday before the bank opened for business.

Maude Gaines, Margaret Matz, and LaVonne Ammeter attended the funeral of Marjorie Handle at the Burns United Methodist Church.

A surprise come-and-go buffet honoring the 80th birthday of Dave Stucky was hosted on Dec. 8 by his children. The celebration was held in the Stucky home.

Bob Marshall, veteran instrumental music instructor in District 398, recently was named president-elect of the Kansas Music Educators Association.

The Peabody High School horticulture class was out spreading the Christmas spirit Tuesday. They were distributing a large number of flowering plants grown in the class greenhouse to school offices and classrooms and businesses around town.

The home of Joyce DeForest was the gathering place for members of the History Club on Friday, Dec. 12. Wanda Baker presented a very inspirational and informative program on “Women of the Bible.”

Mr. and Mrs. Ron Kieferle were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Blackmore and family of Strong City.

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Brewer returned Friday from a vacation in California.

Mr. and Mrs. James South, Miss Sheryl Thornton, and Brock Baker attended “The Music Man” in Wichita Sunday.

Miss Olinda Otte came up Monday from Whitewater.

Dr. E.H. Johnson visited Wichita and heard Billy Sunday on Tuesday.

Miss Lenna Craw went yesterday to Topeka to visit her sister, Mrs. G.K. Davidson.

Dec. 23, 1886

Round-trip tickets on the railroads will cost but two cents a mile during the holidays.

Thomas Osborn and daughter, Miss Lillie, started yesterday for Iowa to spend the holidays with relatives.

G.A.R. meeting at the new hall next Monday night. Every member should be present for important business.
