Peabody-Burns High School English instructor Dorothy Rucker will teach a semester-long college speech class in Peabody for Butler Community College this fall.

“This is a chance for this year’s seniors to get a jump on their college education,” she said. “Colleges require a speech class. Taking the course at home with people the students know might appeal to some PBHS kids who are college-bound in 2010.”

The class will meet one night a week for one semester. Enrollment will be the week of Aug. 17.

“Since we are starting our regular school year later than in past years, the speech class will begin before the district school year begins,” Rucker said.
