Clark family has reunion

The 10th reunion of the descendants of the Mac and Clarice Clark family met Sept. 27 at Burns Community Center. A carry-in dinner was enjoyed by 44 members. Charlie Clark emceed the program. Poems and history were read, a sing along was held, and gifts and prizes were given.

Twins Virgil Clark and Virginia (Clark) Waggy celebrated their 82nd birthdays. Marie Empke Clark, 85, received a prize for being the oldest in attendance. The persons coming the farthest were Jim and Kathy Shelton of Plano, Texas. The person with the most children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was Marie Empke Clark. The only attendee who had earned a master’s degree was Karla Duran. The couple married the most years was Virgil and Norma Clark, 63 years.

The youngest person there was Trey Duran who was 10 years old. The newest wed couple was Charlie and Kay Clark, four years.

Those attending from the Will Clark family were Norma and Virgil Clark, Charles and Kay Clark of Burns; Roger and Leslie Runnalls, Phil and Gail Topham of Newton; Jean and Howard Knaussman, Virginia and Clyde Waggy, Karla and Trey Duran of El Dorado; Larry Clark of Colorado; Shirley and Phil Morgan, Glenys and Dick Kitching, Grace and Cecil Clark, Duane and Margie Clark of Missouri; and Jim and Kathy Shelton of Plano, Texas.

Attending from the George Clark family were Joyce Baker of Wichita; Bill and Marie Clark, Gordon (Sonny) Clark, and Michelle Banks of El Dorado; Staci Banks Hehenberger with children Abby and Maggie of Lake Elms, Minn.; Marie Empke Clark of Burns; Melinda Gaines, Diane Nelson of Cassoday; and Martin and Peggy Van Der Weg of Newton.

Hester Clark Gillet family attending were LaVonne Ammeter and Don Gillet of Florence; Dennis Riggs of Peabody; and Melody Magette of Dodge City.

The family of Glen Clark is to plan the next reunion in two years.
