Sherry Nelson, Lincolnville, filed suit June 30 against Countryside Feed and Valley View Milling. Nelson seeks more than $75,000 from each defendant, claiming sheep feed she purchased was mislabeled, negligently manufactured, contained excessive amounts of copper toxic to sheep, and was unsafe for use. She seeks damages for dead sheep, sickly sheep, sheep losing reproductive function, aborted lambs, lost production, diminished value of affected sheep, and veterinary, feed, and other expenses.

Kathy Parrish on June 20 settled a portion of a lawsuit she filed Sept. 15 against the City of Marion and Marion County regarding the suicide of her daughter, Julie Starks, while in county jail after being arrested by Marion police on suspicion of criminal deprivation of a vehicle, battery of a law enforcement officer, and disorderly conduct. Parrish accepted a payment of $15,000 from the City of Marion. The lawsuit remains ongoing against Marion County.
