Church cares about details
When acquaintances ask Linda Church what she does, they are often surprised to learn that she really enjoys her work detailing cars at C & R Detailing in Marion.
It isn’t surprising to her close friends, though. Church has always enjoyed getting cars looking their best. She grew up with two brothers and five uncles who enjoyed working with their cars, so detailing was something she got into at an early age.
“It’s just something I enjoyed as a kid,” she said. “It was a way to make extra money when I was growing up.
“I like to detail cars, clean cars,” Church said. “It’s hard work, but it’s fun.”
The family interest in cars didn’t stop with her generation. One of her four sons, Rick LeShure, is a partner at Power Pros, also in Marion.
She said her close friends Chris and Tom Ruck also enjoy detailing cars, so when they were discussing what to do with the building at 1204 E. Main St., opening a detailing business was an easy choice. C & R Detailing opened May 11. The business doesn’t do any work under the hood, but focuses on cars’ appearance inside and out.
Church said she enjoys seeing the difference washing, waxing, and cleaning a car can make. Waxing especially can help bring out a car’s color, she said.
“It’s almost like it puts a smile on its face, makes it a happy car,” she said.
Church said business has been kind of slow the first month as they try to get out the message that the shop is open. C & R Detailing is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call (620) 381-2117.
