Chingawassa picks country duo

Love and Theft had a No. 1 single in 2011

Chingawassa Days is continuing its trend toward attracting more contemporary acts for its headline show with Love and Theft as the main act for 2014, the committee announced Monday.

Love and Theft is a country duo, formerly a trio, formed in 2006 in Nashville composed of members Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles. Their first album, 2009’s World Wide Open, reached No. 10 on the U.S. country music charts. Their eponymous follow-up in 2012 reached No. 4.

They have had five singles climb the U.S. country chart, highlighted by “Angel Eyes,” a 2011 song that reached No. 1 on the chart and sold more than 1 million copies. Their only single that hasn’t made it onto the country charts is “Night That You’ll Never Forget,” but that song was only released earlier this month. It is the first single from an album that will be released later this year.

The duo was nominated for the Country Music Association awards for New Artist of the Year and Vocal Duo of the Year in 2012. In 2013, they won the Country Music Television award for Duo Video of the Year for “Runnin’ Out of Air.”

Love and Theft has performed at the Grand Ole’ Opry — their first appearance was in 2009.

The duo will perform at Chingawassa Days on June 7. The Chingawassa Days committee also announced that there will be bands performing on June 6.
