Chauncey Hughes Monroe earns Air Force honor

Staff Sergeant Chauncey (Hughes) Monroe has been selected as the 15th Aeromedical and Dental Squadron, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Honolulu, Hawaii, Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter for the third quarter of fiscal year 2014.

SSgt. Monroe is the United States Air Force Aero Evacuation Liaison with the 15th Medical Group, assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center. She is responsible for tracking Army, Marine, and Navy patients coming from Guam, Japan, and Korea for specialty care.

Monroe answers questions and handles any issues patients might have regarding Air Force specific regulations and requirements related to travel, lodging, transportation, orders, extensions, convalescent leave, and travel vouchers.

She coordinates protocol and provides escort for all Air Force senior officers. As the Air Force Liaison, Monroe also coordinates with Hickam Casualty Affairs and generates reports to Hickam Medical Group to inform them of all Air Force active duty members that are admitted to TAMC or network facilities. Monroe assists in the launch and recovery of over 300 inbound military air missions a year.

Monroe is the daughter of Marc and Lynn (Jones) Hughes and sister of Connor Hughes of Stillwater, OK, and Kyle Coon of Hesston.

Peabody relatives include grandparents Gary and Marilyn Jones and aunt, Carolyn Anderson.
