Charles L. Stinchcomb

Former veterinarian Charles Lowell Stinchcomb, 70, of Russell, died Aug. 15 at home.

Born Jan. 24, 1946, to Charles F. and Rosalene (Higgins) Stinchcomb in Marion County, he married Barbara Ann Weber on June 12, 1966.

Charles was in the Army, serving in Vietnam, and Army Reserve from 1964 until 1985.

He earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine at Kansas State University in 1975, and operated a veterinary hospital in Russell for more than 30 years. He was a past president of Kansas Veterinary Medical Association.

He also wrote children’s books.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene, and brother, Robert.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughter, Angela Muller of Russell; son, Jason Stinchcomb of Carrollton, Virginia; father, Charles F. Stinchcomb of Marion; sister, Sue Mueller of Mentor; brothers, Blaine Stinchcomb of Marion and Mike Stinchcomb of Solomon; and four grandchildren,

Services were Aug. 18 at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell. A private inurnment service was to be at Claney Cemetery, Marion.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Charles and Barbara Stinchcomb Fund at Russell County Area Community Foundation.
