Centre to resume 8-man football
Staff writer
After much discussion, Centre school board has decided to abandon six-player football and return to the eight-player version of the game next year.
School board members had voted in August to stay with the six-player sport through the 2025-’26 season but reversed that decision on a 5-2 vote Sept. 11.
The board also voted Sept. 11 to set prices for its new day care center at $150 per week, with district employees qualifying for a 15% discount.
A $14,250 bid from McClelland Inc. for football stadium speakers was accepted, and three out-of-district students were accepted: Aleyna Veit, eighth grade; Ayden Britton, seventh grade; and Kasen Britton, third grade.
New Centre staff members include day care director Janine Foth and kindergarten teacher Emily Hutchison.
