Centre girls' golfers aim for more medals
Centre girls’ golf lost one player to graduation and gained another this year, to keep the team at three.
Samantha Engler and Cecilia Rziha are returning juniors, and Jorja Peterson is a freshman.
Coach Max Venable is in his second year and is excited to see how his returning players will improve over last year.
Samantha earned one medal last year with a 15th-place finish at Council Grove and a score of 55. Cecilia came close to medaling with a top score of 60.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they got several medals this year,” Venable said. “Each of them wants to have a new personal best.”
His goal is to send every girl to the regional meet.
They open play at Emporia on Tuesday.
