ALUMNI LETTERS:   Catching up with hometown

To the editor,

With your help, I would like to thank the Class of 2012 for its donation to the Peabody Community Foundation on behalf of the HUB. The students had a sizeable amount of money left in their class fund after they graduated and made the decision to return it to the community in the form of a donation to the foundation earmarked for the HUB.

The students’ donation also encouraged others to donate enough to begin an endowment for the HUB. It is great that they saw the impact that the HUB had on their class and saw it as a plus to the future of the community.

Dr. Dale Hague, founder of the HUB and one of the original board members of the Peabody Community Foundation, had a dream of having an endowment fund. The generous donation by this group of graduates will continue to help an organization that has meant so much to them during their teenage years.

So let me say thank you very much and good luck to all of the Class of 2012 in your travels through life.

Also, because your donation was timely it was matched first, dollar-for-dollar, by another donor and a second time by the Grow II program of the Foundation, thus tripling your contribution.

Thank you again from the HUB and the Peabody Community Foundation for being willing to give back to our community.

N.M. Patton, President
Peabody Community Foundation
