Bullwinkle still a hit along with Daffy Duck, but some vote for ‘No One’

Staff writer

Apparently some Marion County voters were not thrilled with anyone for county attorney.

Incumbent Joel Ensey got 112 votes for county attorney. That is not enough to reach the 5% of registered voters needed to have his name appear on the November ballot. For that, he would have needed 384 votes.

“There will be a blank line on the ballot,” county clerk Tina Spencer said. “Whoever gets the most votes wins.”

Bullwinkle, Alfred E. Newman, NA, Person, Pedro, and “Hi” each got a write-in vote. Mickey Mouse got two votes, and “None” got five.

Non-candidate Robert Brookens got 23 votes for the position.

Former county attorney Susan Robson got 34 votes. Susan Roberson got two votes and Susan Robinson got 3.

Tracy Mann, running for U.S. House of Representatives, got one vote for county attorney. He also got a vote for Wilson Township treasurer.

Daffy Duck, not to be outdone by Bullwinkle, got a vote for East Branch Township Treasurer.

Mike Beneke, winner in the Republican race for District No. 2 county commission, also got votes for District No. 4 and District No. 5.

Mike B got a vote for District No. 2 commission, one for county clerk, and one for county treasurer.

“X” and “We We Smith” each got a vote for Hillsboro 1st precinct committeeman.

“No one” got a vote for Hillsboro 2nd precinct committeeman.

Former professional wrestler Ric Flair got a vote for Marion north precinct committeeman.

“Anyone Else” got a vote for Marion south precinct committeeman.

“Whoever” got a vote for Hillsboro 2nd district precinct committeewoman.

Person got a vote for Peabody west precinct committeewoman.
