Canines conquer morning contest

Peabody American Legion Auxiliary sponsored its 12th annual dog show Saturday at Santa Fe Park as part of the July 4 community celebration.

Organizers said Fluffy, shown by Nancy Lewis, has been in the annual competition every year except the first. Nineteen dogs were entered this year.

Winners in the various categories were:

Grand Champion — Molly, a cocker spaniel, shown by Jaylee Hershberger.

Peoples’ Choice — Roscoe, shown by Alicia Decker

Cutest — 1st, Bridget, shown by Wilda Brown; 2nd, Moose, shown by Isaac Bays; 3rd, Kola, shown by Nicole Sanders.

Smallest — 1st, Bridget, shown by Lily Partridge; 2nd, Liza, shown by Trisha Oursler; 3rd, Lucy Lou, shown by Nancy Lewis.

Largest — 1st, Newman, shown by Lily Partridge; 2nd, Lakota, shown by Kelly Bayes; 3rd, Bo, shown by Barb Seeney.

Waggiest tail — 1st, Ruby, shown by Debra Drinkwater; 2nd, Bandit, shown by Alicia Decker; 3rd, Moose, shown by Isaac Bayes.

Best dancer — 1st, Violet, shown by Saje Bayes; 2nd, Lucy Lou, shown by Nancy Lewis.

Best catcher — 1st, Marley, shown by Mareta Brown; 2nd, Fluffy, shown by Nancy Lewis; 3rd, Pippa, shown by Leah Drinkwater.
