Likely coming to Marion County Park and Lake: campsite reservations.

Park and Lake superintendent Isaac Hett told county commissioners Monday that lake visitors have asked to be able to reserve campsites, and for busy weekends such as Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends, and the weekend of the annual Bluegrass Festival, reservations might be a good idea.

Commissioner Randy Dallke asked if visitors should be allowed to reserve a spot for the entire summer, or reserve the same spot for several consecutive weekends.

Hett said he needs to contemplate the situation further and wants to contact the Corps of Engineers at Marion Reservoir to see how campsite reservations are handled there.

Commissioners encouraged him to study the matter and bring back a plan for possible approval at a later date.
