Burns correspondent
The February gathering of Burns Senior Citizens was held at the community building with 24 members, friends, and special guests in attendance. The group enjoyed the monthly potluck dinner.
Beverly Morgan asked the blessing and the group saluted the flag. Arlen Freund will celebrate a birthday Feb. 21 and Mike and Beverly Morgan will celebrate their anniversary Feb. 15. There was no business meeting.
The meeting was turned over to Arlen Freund of Wichita, formerly of Burns. He shared some of his humorous experiences at Brown school.
Freund’s current hobby is refinishing old furniture. He said, “Why do we throw away old things from our churches and then pay thousands of dollars to go to Europe to see old things?”
Other sayings he shared in his presentation were, “As we get older we seek beauty and companionship — beauty in sunsets, music, and musicians” and “The greatest thing that came to this earth was the birth of Christ.”
Freund brought some of his woodworking projects for the group to view and gave interesting facts and details about his work.
