BURNS: Burns senior citizens share childhood memories

Nineteen senior citizens and friends met Oct. 8 at the Burns Senior Center. Doni Rogers gave the blessing and all saluted the flag. The groups sang “Happy Birthday” to Esta Hall. The annual Christmas dinner was discussed. No program was available, so everyone told about some childhood experiences. James Olberding adjourned the meeting.

Vernon and Judy Koehn called on relatives in Moundridge Manor and Moundridge Memorial Home in the afternoon and evening on Oct. 6.

Marie Clark went to Newton with Peggy Van der Weg the evening of Oct. 5 and watched Peggy’s grandchildren play soccer. Her dinner guests Oct. 6 were Colin and Tracey Stucky and Ava of Lenexa and Jennifer Stucky of Newton. Later in the afternoon, Marie and Jennifer called on Joyce Kyle.

Ronnie and Patti Gaines, Dusty Gaines, and Ty Gaines and Brooke spent the weekend, Oct. 5 and 6, at the Marion County Lake. Ty participated in the Chili Cook-off and all enjoyed the weekend.

Lawrence and Lois Sayers and Sandy Sayers visited Tom and Esther Archer the afternoon on Oct. 5 in Cottonwood Falls.

Joyce Kyle and Carol Callahan joined friends at Grandview Park in Florence Oct. 6 for a chili supper celebrating October birthdays.

Lawrence and Lois Sayers visited Joyce Kyle in the evening Oct. 8.

Ronald Kirkpatrick died Oct. 7. He was well known in the Burns community.
