Burnett lights up scoreboard for girls

Brandee Burnett scored 21 points to lead the Peabody-Burns High School girls’ basketball team to victory in the first contest of 2013. PBHS defeated Flint Hills at Rosalia, 46-34.

Flint Hills led 8-2 in the first quarter. Burnett was the only Lady Warrior to score in the period.

In the second quarter, PBHS went on a scoring rampage, putting up 18 points. Burnett led with nine points. Paige Lewis followed with six. Rayna Barnes got on the board with three. PBHS defense held Flint Hills to eight points. The Lady Warriors led 20-16 at the halftime.

Scoring continued in the third quarter with 16 from the PBHS squad.

Burnett had two 3-pointers and six total points in the quarter. Barnes added four points and McKenzie Ensminger, Christa Elliott and Brianna Larsen each scored a basket.

Flint Hills added seven points. PBHS had the 36-23 lead at the end of the quarter.

Burnett and Barnes added four points each in the fourth quarter. Lewis scored two. Flint Hills added 11 in the final period.

Barnes was the second high scorer for Peabody with 11 points. Lewis had eight points.

Continuing the 2013 schedule, the team traveled to White City Tuesday. The girls return home Friday for a match-up with Wakefield.
