This year’s Kansas Fall Delegate was Oct. 26 at Kansas State University in Manhattan. Fall Delegate is a conference Kansas Business Professionals of America hosts every year to elect new state officers.
This year Peabody-Burns BPA members McKenzie Ensminger and Zachary Preheim ran for office. Ensminger was elected Kansas State Parliamentarian for 2011-12.
The Peabody-Burns chapter took seven students to Fall Delegate with advisor Patty Savage. Senior Amy Wedel; juniors Rayna Barnes, Brandee Brunett, McKenzie Ensminger, and Zachary Preheim; sophomore Kaycy Gonzales; and freshman Brianna Larsen attended from PBHS.
Barnes was campaign manager for both Ensminger and Preheim, Burnett served as head voting delegate, and Wedel, Gonzalez, and Larsen all served as voting delegates.
All seven students attended three leadership workshops put on by the 2010-11 state officers.
The first workshop focused on recognizing ambitions through teamwork, led by PBHS graduate Michaela Methvin. The students were instructed to write down goals they have set and their ambitions for the future.
The second workshop involved realizing diversity and was led by PBHS graduate Embry Hodges. The students learned how important diversity is to society.
Minute-To-Win-It was the third workshop, and students competed in minute-long challenges to win a prize.
Last year, the Peabody-Burns chapter had two state officers; Methvin served as historian and Hodges served as parliamentarian. Their last duties as state officers were to present the workshops and welcome new state officers.
