Boys run third at Marion

The Peabody-Burns High School cross country team ran well Thursday at Marion County Park and Lake.

The boys’ team took third place with 65 points.

Andover Central was first with 49 points, Marion second with 63, Herington was fourth with 85, and Wichita Trinity was fifth with 101 points.

The team will compete next at Halstead.

The two-top PBHS runners finished second and third in the standings.

Aaron Topham was second with a 5k time of 18 minutes, 19.88 seconds.

Kendall Wiebe came in close behind at third with a time of 18:27.70.

Josh Klarmann also finished in the top-20 with a 14th-place finish. He ran the course in 19:09.16.

Sheldon Wiebe came in 22nd with a time of 19:55.55.

Seth Methvin was 35th with a time of 20:48.94, Curtis Frederick finished 41st with a time of 21:08.31, and Jake Middleton was 43rd with a time of 21:15.91

Chris Schafer ran in the junior varsity race and finished 19th with a time of 23:11.17.

In the girls’ division, Lauren Pickens finished the 4k course in 13th-place with a time of 17:33.17.

Amanda Pickens and Heather Brooks ran for the junior varsity.

Pickens finished 20th with a time of 24:00.49 and Brooks was 23rd with a time of 16:40.04.
