Bob Maxwell

A memorial service for Robert G. “Bob” Maxwell, 90, who passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, will be 11 a.m. April 24, 2025, at Americus United Methodist Church in Americus.

He was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Americus to Ruth (Kitzenberger) Maxwell, who later married Ernest Fowler.

Bob was a graduate of Americus High School. He married Naomi Bass on Sept. 20, 1952, in Americus.

He began his career in the construction trade, rising to the level of superintendent, overseeing major building projects in Wichita and surrounding areas until his retirement in 1996.

He was a long-standing member of Masonic Lodge No. 0099 of Wichita.

After his retirement, he and Naomi moved to Marion Reservoir, where he loved to fish, garden, and work on woodworking projects.

Bob was a devoted husband, and he and Naomi raised two daughters, Jackie and Pam.

Bob and Naomi were married for 72 years but they knew each other since fourth grade and became friends for life.

Bob is survived by Naomi and their daughters, Jackie Luedtke (and husband Marc) of Marion and Pam Okrucky (and husband Phil) of Billings, Montana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Ernie, and his older brother, Calvin Maxwell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of Jost Funeral Home, PO Box 266, Hillsboro KS 67063.
